Well Aren’t We Dashing

March 31, 2007 at 11:07 am (FO, knitting)

I never meant to be a fair-weather blogger, I swear. But sometimes life/work gets in the way. I have been knitting though. Man, have I ever. I even have an FO for you.

Pattern: Dashing
Source: Knitty

Materials: Green Mountain Spinnery Mountain Mohair (30% Mohair, 70% Wool) in Balsam, 1 hank; Size 7 or 8 DPNs
Started: March 9, 2007
Completed: March 16, 2007

There isn’t much that’s not to like about this pattern. The same thing goes for the yarn. I omitted a lot of the “in between” stitches (i.e., not cable pattern) to size these down a bit for my smaller hands and to conserve yarn, as I only had one skein of this lovely Mountain Mohair. I liked the pattern’s innovative way of forming the thumb gusset with scrap yarn instead of increases and I love love love the way the cabling on the wrists looks. These are a definite keeper, and I’ve already worn them several times, including for St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Green handwarmers are perfect when drinking green beer. Not that I do such things.

I don’t know why I look sad here, and no, it’s not because of too much green beer. I believe it’s because of too much Nyquil . . . d*&^ fluctuating temperatures . . . sniffle sniffle.

I’ve also got some Natalya gauntlets that I knit up for a friend of mine currently blocking.

And I’ve been plugging away on some Broad Street Mittens for Matt in Dale of Norway Haaaaauk (saying Hauk makes me think of loogies, sorry to be gross) and a Razor Cami for me in some random Lana Grossa sock yarn I had.

Razor Cami

I’m finding the mitten pattern a bit frustrating, as it’s missing a lot of direction, but I’m bumbling through. The Razor Cami is making for some great TV knitting.

So my apologies for being an blog-slacker, I’ll have some pictures of my Hourglass pullover and some other goodies to show you before long. Happy spring!

Dashings look great! I hope you’re feeling better soon. Cough medicine haze is bad. Can’t wait to see the hourglass pullover!
